Why in news?
- Dr. Harsh Vardhan addressed an event by Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
About (CDRI)
- The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) is an multi-stakeholder global partnership of national governments, United Nations (UN) agencies, multilateral development banks, the private sector, and academic institutions, that aims to promote disaster-resiliant infrastructure.
- At present, it is not an intergovernmental organization, which are ordinarily treaty-based organizations.
- Its objective is to promote research and knowledge sharing in the fields of infrastructure risk management, standards, financing, and recovery mechanisms.
- It was launched by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019.
- The CDRI Secretariat is based in New Delhi, India.
- At present nearly 20 countries along with Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank Group, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) are members of CDRI.
