About Loya Jirga:

• A loya jirga is a special type of jirga, or legal assembly as per the traditional code of laws of the Pashtun people, mainly current in Afghanistan.
• It is a highly respected traditional consultative body of Afghanistan.
• The current Loya Jirga in Afghanistan assembly of more than 3,000 representatives from around the country,
• It is mainly organized for choosing a new head of state in case of sudden death, adopting a new constitution, or to settle national or regional issue such as war.
