About Bodos:
- They are part of the Bodo-Kachari ethnolinguistic groups found in Nepal, Bangladesh and clustered in Assam.
- Bodo are the largest minority group in Assam and are concentrated in the northern areas of the Brahmaputra River valley.
- The Bodo-Kachari people are the first to cultivate rice and rear silkworms in Assam.
Language:
- They speak the Bodo language, which is recognized as one of twenty-two scheduled languages in the Indian Constitution.
Religion:
- Bodos traditionally practise Bathouism, which is the worshiping of forefathers.
- In modern days, they are highly influenced by belief system of Hinduism.
Art and festivals
- Bagurumba and Bardaichikla are folk dances performed by the tribes.
- Baishagu is the most cherished, spring time festival celebrated by them.
