Why in news?
- Global liveability index 2021 has been published.
About the index:
- The Global Liveability Ranking is an annual assessment published by the London–based Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
- It ranks around 140 global cities for their urban quality of life based on assessments of stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
- New Zealand and Australian cities dominated the Global Liveability Index 2021 owing to their strong response to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
- Auckland (New Zealand), Osaka (Japan), Adelaide (Australia) and Wellington (New Zealand) dominated this year’s rankings.
