Why in news?
- India successfully flight-tested indigenously developed helicopter-launched stand-off anti-tank (SANT) missile in Rajasthan's Pokhran firing ranges.
Stand-off Anti-Tank (SANT) Missile:
- Stand-off Anti-Tank(SANT) is an indigenously designed and developed air-to-surface missile.
- SANT missile is the fourth-generation missile upgraded variant of HELINA.
- Helina is a helicopter based NAG missile.
- NAG is a third-generation, fire-and-forget, anti-tank guided missile developed by DRDO. It can be launched from land and air-based platforms.
- The SANT missile is equipped with a state-of-the-art MMW seeker which provides high precision strike capability from a safe distance. The weapon can neutralise targets in a range up to 10 kms.
- It is an armour guided missile.
- It has both lock – on before launch and lock – on after launch capabilities.
