Why in news?

• On World Elephant Day, the Union Environment Ministry has declared a new elephant reserve called Agasthiyarmalai Elephant Reserve.

About Agasthiyarmalai Elephant Reserve:

• Agasthiyarmalai Elephant Reserve is located in Tamil Nadu
• This will be the 5th elephant reserve in Tamil Nadu and the 32nd elephant reserve in India.

Add ons:

• In the last three years, Dandeli Elephant Reserve has been notified by Karnataka, Singphan Elephant Reserve by Nagaland and Lemru Elephant Reserve in Chhattisgarh.
