IN NEWS:

• The central government has launched an online Dashboard - National Migrant Information System (NMIS).

ABOUT NMIS:

• The online portal will maintain a central repository on migrant workers and help in speedy inter-State communication to facilitate their smooth movement to native places.
• It was developed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
• It has additional advantages like contact tracing, which may be useful in overall COVID-19 response work.

NATIONAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY:

• It is the is the apex statutory body for disaster management in India.
• It was established in accordance with the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
• It is composed of the Prime Minister as its Chairperson and nine other members.
