- The world’s first real time paddy field monitoring system will soon be launched.
ABOUT PADDY WATCH:
- It is world’s first real-time paddy-field monitoring platform.
- It will give information on the quantity of rice planted and the harvest achieved.
- The app is being built by researchers from the University of Sydney in collaboration with Google Earth and the Group on Earth Observations.
- The project would use the Google Earth Engine to build the first real-time mobile application that will allow management of land use to ensure food security in the world’s rice bowls.
- The countries covered by the project include India, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
