- Researchers have pointed to increasing threats to horn bill habitats due to increasing deforestation in north eastern Indian habitats like Papum Reserve Forest and Pakke Tiger Reserve.
About Papum Reserve Forest:
- Papum Reserve Forest (RF) is an Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) in Arunachal Pradesh.
- It is located close to Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary which is on its west.
- Papum RF is a nesting habitat of three species of the large, colourful fruit-eating hornbills: Great, Wreathed and Oriental Pied.
About Pakke Tiger reserve:
- Pakke Tiger Reserve, also known as Pakhui Tiger Reserve, is a Project Tiger reserve in Arunachal Pradesh
- The sanctuary adjoins Assam's Nameri National Park and consists semi-evergreen, evergreen and Eastern Himalayan broadleaf forests.
