IN NEWS:
- The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has upheld the Adani Group firm - Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone's take-over plan of the debt-ridden Dighi Port.
About the Port:
- Dighi Port is the first Greenfield port in Maharashtra and is located in Raigad district.
- It is being developed as a multipurpose, multi cargo, all weather port with deep draught, direct berthing facilities and state-of-the-art cargo handling equipment.
- The port is located on the bank of Rajpuri creek and has a channel offering a depth of 14.5 m, making it one the deepest ports of Maharashtra.
- It is being developed by Balaji Infra Projects Ltd (BIPL) under a 50 year “Build, Own, Operate, Share, Transfer (BOOST)” concession agreement signed with the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB), the Government of Maharashtra.
- Dighi Port owes over Rs 3,000 crore to the lenders and is going through the corporate insolvency resolution process.
