IN NEWS:
- A Tripartite Agreement has been finalized and initialed between a Chinese company and governments of Pakistan and Pak occupied Kashmir for implementation of Kohala Hydropower Project.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
- The Kohala Hydropower Project is a proposed run-of-the-river, high head project of 316 meters that will be located near Kohala, in Pak occupied Kashmir, in Pakistan.
- It will be implemented under the China Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) framework.
- It will be able to produce 1,124MW of power when completed.
- India has consistently objected to the construction of the project.
