• Heavy rains caused a landslide on 25^th August 2021 at Nandi Hills, a popular tourist destination in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district.

About Nandi Hills:

• Nandi Hills is an ancient hill fortress built by Ganga Dynasty and later enlarged and strengthened by Tipu Sultan .
• Cholas established Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple (siva temple) in Nandhi hills during the 11th Century. 
  • It reflects Dravida and Chola Architecture.
• Six rivers originate from Nandi ranges — Arkavathi, Chitravathi, Papagni, Pennar, Ponnaiyar, and Palar.
• Karnataka Government plans to develop Nandi Hills as an international tourist destination
