About Swachh Survekshan:

• Swachh Survekshan is a ranking exercise taken up by the Government of India to assess urban areas for their levels of cleanliness and active implementation of Swachhata mission initiatives in a timely and innovative manner.
• The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India takes up the Swachh Survekshan.
• Swacch Survekshan 2020 was the fifth edition of the annual cleanliness survey.
• Indore in Madhya Pradesh retained its position as the cleanest city in India for the fourth consecutive year.
• Jharkhand ranked on top in the list of best performing states, with less than 100 ULBs, in terms of overall performance.
• Chhattisgarh bagged the award for the best-performing state with over 100 ULBs.
• It is the World's largest cleanliness survey which covered 4242 Cities and collected 1.9 Crores Citizen Feedback.
• It was a Completely digitized and paperless survey.
• Cities were categorized based on their population and there was a special category for Ganga Towns in the survey.
