IN NEWS:
- India launched one of the largest repatriation programme ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ to bring back its stranded citizens abroad.
ABOUT THE MISSION:
- ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ will see 64 flights being operated from May 7 to May 13 to bring back around 15,000 Indian nationals stranded abroad.
- Under this mission, Ministry of Civil Aviation is coordinating with Ministry of External Affairs and state Governments.
- Operation Samudra Setu is launched by the Indian Navy as part of the Vande Bharat mission. Indian Naval Ships Jalashwa and Magar will be used to bring back stranded citizen from Male.
- The second phase of Vande Bharat Mission includes 149 flights, which will be operated to bring back Indians from 40 countries.
