ABOUT ATL APP:

• It is launched by NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission has launched the ATL App Development Module for school children across the country.
• The ATL App is an online course, which is completely Free.
• Through six project-based learning modules and online mentoring sessions, young innovators can learn to build mobile apps in various Indian languages and showcase their talent.
• Additionally, to build capacities and acumen for app development within school teachers, periodic Teacher Training sessions will be conducted on the AIM App Development course.

WHAT IS AIM?

• Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is Government of India’s endeavor to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
• It was launched by NITI Aayog to serve as a platform for promotion of world-class Innovation Hubs, Grand Challenges, Start-up businesses and other self-employment activities, particularly in technology driven areas.

OTHER INITIATIVES UNDER AIM:

• Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs): ATLs are dedicated innovation workspaces where do-it-yourself (DIY) kits on latest technologies are installed to enable students to design and make small prototypes to solve challenges they see around them.
• Atal Incubation Centers (AICs): AICs will help startups expand quicker and enable innovation-entrepreneurship, in core sectors such as manufacturing, transport, energy, education, agriculture, water and sanitation, etc.
• Atal New India Challenges: To create products/solutions based on advanced technologies in areas of national importance and social relevance through a grant-based mechanism.
• Mentor India Campaign: To engage leaders who will volunteer and can dedicate 1–2 hours every week in one or more ATLs and enable school students to experience, learn and practice future skills such as design and computational thinking.
• Defense India Startup Challenge: To build an eco-system of innovation and entrepreneurship in India for the defense sector to make India self-reliant. It is conducted by Defense Innovation Organization in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission.
