Why in news?

  • Union Minister Virendra Kumar launches PM-Daksh portal, PM Daksh mobile app to promote skill development.

About PM-DAKSH Yojana:

  • PM-DAKSH (Pradhan Mantri Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi) Yojana is a National Action Plan for skilling of marginalized persons.
  • It is being implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment from the year 2020-21.
  • Under the scheme, eligible target groups are being provided skill development training programmes on up-skilling/reskilling, short term training programme, long term training programme and entrepreneurship development program (EDP).

Eligibility:

  • Marginalized persons of SC, OBC, Economically Backward Classes, De-notified tribes, Sanitation workers including waste pickers, manual scavengers, transgenders and other similar categories.

Key Features of the Scheme:

  • There are four types of skill development training programmes under PM-DAKSH Yojanaviz;
    • Up-skilling/Re-skilling
    • Short Term Training Programmes
    • Long Term Training Programmes
    • Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
  • Training free of cost for the trainees, 100% grants by Government.
  • Stipend of Rs.1,000 to Rs.1,500 per month per trainee for trainees having 80% and above attendance in short term and long term training.
  • Wage compensation at Rs.3000 per trainee.
  • Trained candidates will be provided certification after successful completion of training and assessment.
  • Trained candidates will be provided placement after assessment and certification.
