Why in news?

• Union Minister for Tribal Affairs launched the virtual edition of Aadi Mahotsav- Madhya Pradesh.
• The 10-day long festival, commencing on December 1, 2020, is being hosted on the Tribes India website (www.tribesindia.com).

About Aadi Mahotsav

• It is a joint initiative of Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED).
• TRIFED will essentially play role of a Service provider & Market Developer.
• The objective of the festival is to eliminate the middle man and provide direct market access to the tribal master-craftsmen and women in large metros and State capitals.
• Festivals have been organised at places like Shimla, Ooty, Leh-Ladakh, Visakhapatnam, Noida, Indore, Pune and Bhubaneswar to showcase tribal products.

About TRIFED:

• Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited is a national level apex organization functioning under the administrative control of Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
• TRIFED is engaged in marketing development of tribal products and provides marketing support to the products made by tribals through a network of retail outlets.
• It has launched Tribes India portal, a e-Marketplace for authentic tribal products including handicrafts.
