Sintan Top

Why in news?

• For the first time, the road to Sinthan Top has been opened in the month of February 2023 with an aim to promote tourism to this off-beat destination in Jammu and Kashmir.

About Sintan Top:

• Sinthan Top is a mountain pass, a popular tourist destination located between Breng Valley (in South Kashmir) and Kishtwar district of Chenab Valley in Jammu and Kashmir.
• It connects Kashmir to Chenab Valley.
• Sinthan snow-capped for most of the year.
• Sinthan Top has no local population. Shepherds/Nomads from others places of Jammu and Kashmir stay at nearby places of this top.

Add ons:

• Vailoo-Singhpora tunnel is a proposed tunnel to bypass Sinthan pass. It was approved in principle years ago, the action is still awaited by the government.
