Why in news?

  • Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is on its way to commercialize India’s ninth Hydrocarbon Producing Basin – the Vindhyan Basin (eighth by ONGC)
  • ONGC is India's largest oil and gas producer contributing 72 per cent of the country's hydrocarbon production.
