What is Abraham Accord?
- Formally known as Abraham Accords: Declaration of Peace, Cooperation, and Constructive Diplomatic and Friendly Relations , it has two parts
- Bahrain–Israel normalization agreement
- Israel–United Arab Emirates normalization agreement
- The UAE and Bahrain became the third and fourth Arab country, after Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994, to agree to formally normalize its relationship with Israel.
- As per the agreements, the UAE and Bahrain will establish embassies, exchange ambassadors, cooperate and work together with Israel across a range of sectors, including tourism, trade, healthcare and security. In exchange Israel would suspend its plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.
- The Abraham Accords also open the door for Muslims around the world to visit the historic sites in Israel and to peacefully pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam.
