WHAT IS IT:
- C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE), or Comet NEOWISE, is a comet with a near-parabolic orbit discovered on March 27, 2020, by astronomers using the NEOWISE space telescope.
- Under dark skies it can be clearly seen with the naked eye and is expected to remain visible to the naked eye throughout most of July 2020.

- Comets are small, fragile, irregularly shaped bodies composed of a mixture of non-volatile grains and frozen gases.
- They contain organic and inorganic compounds and also metals and various ions.
- They usually follow highly elongated paths around the Sun.
- It will make its closest approach to the Earth on July 22.
